The 8th edition of the “Tour de Cure” event is slated to take place this weekend, Sept. 14-15, in Aguadilla, on the grounds of LifeScan Products LLC (LifeScan), a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Diabetes Solutions Companies, to raise funds for the American Diabetes Association.

“Tour de Cure has turned into a tradition as for the past seven years we have seen a growing participation from athletes; it is a sport as well as a family event that promotes a better lifestyle while it helps us raise funds for patients with diabetes,” said Carmen Eunice Rivera, Captain of the 2013 Tour de Cure.

The Tour is a one of kind sporting event in Puerto Rico, as it includes several sport disciplines for people of all ages to take part in. Organizers said this year’s event is expected to draw 6,000 people, including appearances by Mayra Elías, the marathon runner who is still recovering from a hit-and-run accident and former Major League baseball player and Aguadilla resident Carlos Delgado.

Tour de Cure is endorsed by the Municipality of Aguadilla and the Puerto Rico Sports and Recreation Department.
