Puerto Rican Broadband service provider Aeronet was recently named the Wireless Internet Service Provider Association’s 2012 “Operator of the Year.”

Aeronet was chosen among 600 WISPA members for providing innovative services, exceeding in customer satisfaction and representing the wireless Internet industry in the most favorable way, company executives said.

“We are honored to be recognized by our peers and our industry as the ‘Operator of the Year.’ During the last 11 years we have worked hard to provide our customers with the best service utilizing the latest and most innovative technology available” said Aeronet President Gino A. Villarini during the awards banquet ceremony held in Las Vegas last month.

In 2012, the company completed a $2 million network infrastructure upgrade and invested more than $4 million in a wireless spectrum acquisition.

More investments are being made this year with plans for a new wireless network and a fiber ring in the San Juan metro area. Aeronet currently offers Broadband Access, Dedicated Internet Access, and Metro Ethernet, among other services.

“2013 is the year we will make our biggest network expansion yet by deploying a new 4G LTE wireless network in our 2.5 Ghz spectrum,” said Villarini.

“Our plan is to continue with our vision of innovation for the Puerto Rico market. Other markets are a possibility in the coming years. For 2013 we are focused on being the first provider to offer 1000 Mbps broadband access on the island,” he added.
