Budweiser summer promotion takes off

Ángel Vázquez, president of B. Fernández & Hermanos

This summer Budweiser is flying more than 100 Puerto Rico music fans on a once-in-a-lifetime journey to the famed Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago, on a chartered private jet.

The Bud Plane, a Boeing 737, will transport the winners on a direct flight for the festival to be held from Aug. 3-5 at Chicago’s Grant Park. Among the acts confirmed to form part of the extensive line-up are Black Sabbath, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Keys, Florence + the Machine, The Shins, At the Drive-In, Franz Ferdinand, Sigur Rós and the Chilean band Los Jaivas, among others.

The sweepstake gives participants several ways to compete for a seat on the plane, through in-store purchases, at participating pubs and bars and via facebook.com/BudweiserPuertoRico. Winners will receive two round-trip tickets for the trip to Chicago on the Bud Plane, hotel accommodations in Chicago, and tickets to all three days of the Lollapalooza festival.

“We are very excited about bringing this unique experience to Budweiser fans in Puerto Rico,” said Ángel Vázquez, president of B. Fernández & Hermanos, which distributes the brew locally. “Our new summer promotion follows in the footsteps of other unforgettable Budweiser experiences, including travelling to South Africa for the FIFA World Cup 2010 and having the opportunity to present the Man of the Match trophy.”

The Bud Plane

Budweiser Puerto Rico is joining the global efforts of Anheuser-Busch InBev in its sponsorship of the Lollapalooza rock festival.

“We know Budweiser fans are passionate about music and what music fan hasn’t always dreamed of seeing their favorite bands live on stage at Lollapalooza.  What better way to kick off this experience than aboard a private jet, as Budweiser brings together music lovers to share an amazing experience,” said Ricardo Urteaga, regional manager for Anheuser-Busch InBev.

The Bud Plane promotion, created and developed by ad agency Populicom, will be supported by an advertising campaign on TV, in print and alternate media, as well as on the Facebook social platform and a schedule of bar visits.
