The Puerto Rico Builders Association, a professional trade group, will serve as a link between the Roosevelt Roads Redevelopment Authority and the private sector to encourage the revitalization of the former naval base in Ceiba.

“We’re pleased to sign this partnership agreement since it is of mutual interest to both organizations and has the potential to stimulate the development of various projects in the nine development zones at Roosevelt Roads,” Authority Executive Director Malu Blázquez-Arsuaga said.

Over the past 18 months, the Authority has met with various professional organizations in Puerto Rico to spread the word about development plans for the prime real estate area and key milestones that took place during that time.

“The agreement we’re signing today represents another example of the Authority’s interest to advance Puerto Rican business participation and the creation of regional jobs through the Roosevelt Roads redevelopment project,” said Blázquez-Arsuaga.

For his part, Builders Association President Ricardo Álvarez-Díaz, said the agreement would benefit members who can contribute on issues of planning and development, while supporting the initiative to revive Roosevelt Roads.

“With this agreement, the association will provide the Authority the technical support and expertise for collaborative projects that will have a positive impact on the development of projects, facilities and structures under the Authority’s jurisdiction,” he said.
