The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan’s General Manager, Jacqueline Volkart has been recognized by Worldwide Branding for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in hotel management, the company announced.

Volkart is a luxury hospitality veteran with nearly three decades of experience. A part of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, LLC for more than 20 years, she has managed hotels in New York City, Miami and most recently Puerto Rico.

As general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan, she led the hotel to achieve “Sustainable Tourism Facility” status, the first luxury hotel to receive the accolade as part of the Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism Program developed by the Puerto Rico Tourism Company.

This is the second time a hotel that she has managed has been recognized for focusing on sustainable principles, natural and cultural conservation, environmental education, community integration and local social-economic development.

Volkart received a similar honor from the Miami Hotel Association in 2012 for her sustainability work at The Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove, Miami.

Volkart returned to school to receive her MBA in international hospitality and services industries management from Glion Institute of Higher Education in 2013 after receiving a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management from Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne in 1986. She intends to work toward her senior professional in human resources certification next.
