Chevron launches fundraiser to benefit kids with cancer

Chevron Puerto Rico, which operates on the island under its Texaco brand, and its network of retailers, has joined the “Pumpkins of Hope” fundraising campaign to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The effort entails selling commemorative decals during the month of October with the aim of supporting the work carried out by the institution dedicated to fighting childhood cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases.

“Chevron is pleased to support the important work performed by the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by participating in its fundraising campaign,” said José Luis Faure, district manager of retail sales of Chevron Puerto Rico. “Our company performs several additional fundraising efforts to strengthen our support for this noble cause.”

A total of 180 Texaco station will participate in the fundraising campaign, selling the stickers at $1 a piece, through Oct. 31. Last year, the campaign raised $75,000 for St. Jude, News is my Business learned.

Faure said that besides participating in the hospital’s official fundraising campaign officer, Chevron is part of the St. Jude Heroes program through its Chevron Houston Marathon’s Run for a Reason initiative. The charity event that takes place in January in Houston, Texas, managed to raise more than $2 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and 52 other nonprofit organizations in its 2011 edition.
