Doral Financial Corp. is moving on up in Manhattan, with the recent renewal of its eight-year lease for office space on Fifth Avenue, and the addition of an additional 14,500 square feet in the same building at 623 Fifth Ave., between East 50th and East 51st streets, Crain’s reported Tuesday.

In all, the bank will occupy a total of 27,500 square feet in building located in the Rockerfeller Center financial district neighborhood.

“The building was able to accommodate Doral Financial’s growth as the company continues to expand its business in New York,” John Picco of Cushman & Wakefield Inc. told Crain’s.

The company currently occupies the 13th floor of the building and is expected to move into the entire 19th floor by the fall. The going rate for space at the 36-story building ranges from $80 per square foot to $135 per square foot.
