The 17th edition of the Puerto Rico International Auto Show kicked off Monday with a display of the latest models from the top automakers, who will be on hand at Plaza Las Américas through Nov. 1 to interact with mall-goers during the highly anticipated event.

Several distributors were on hand for the first day’s events, showcasing their 2016 models, including Toyota, Chrysler, Infiniti and a handful more.

Toyota de Puerto Rico, Corp., exclusive distributor of Toyota, Lexus and Scion brands on the island, will feature its Yaris Sedan, the 2016 Tacoma pickup powerful, and the new Scion iM at its interactive pavilions, Maribel Bengoa, marketing manager for Toyota said.

“Once again we are proud to participate in PRIAS, an event of great value for the car industry. For years, this has been the place to carry our message at a public forum,” she said. “This time we’re highlighting our major releases of the season, including Yaris, Tacoma, Scion iM and others.”

Also on display are the most recent editions of Corolla and RAV4.

“True to our commitment to innovation, each of our PRIAS pavilions provide an interactive experience with our audience, taking advantage of a direct line of communication with the people who have driven the success of our brands for so many years,” said Bengoa.

Meanwhile, Chrysler announced that it will join forces with the Center for Entrepreneurship to offer a seminar on the intricacies of launching a start-up, focusing on its “Fuerza del Trabajo” (“The power of work”) slogan, on Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m.

As part of the discussion group, entrepreneurs Mitchel Rivera, owner of Yelo Spa; Chef Ventura Vivoni Rivera, owner of the restaurant Casa Blanca and Hacienda Luz de Luna; Wesley Cullen, owner of Super Foods and general manager of the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum, will share their experience of starting up their businesses.

Meanwhile, the automaker will display during PRIAS the most prominent models and consumer favorites from each of its brands. Visitors to Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram and Fiat brands exhibits will be able to interact with the new Jeep Renegade; the Jeep Grand Cherokee; the powerful Ram 1500; the elegant Chrysler 200; Dodge Challenger sports; the new Fiat 500 X and the iconic Fiat 500.

Meanwhile, Ambar Infiniti revealed on Monday its 2016 Infiniti QX50 redisigned luxury crossover.

“Infiniti has been making significant ehnancements to it’s new models. In fact, it has been proven at top international auto shows in which our concept cars like Q30, Q60 and QX30 have stood out,” said Gastón Rivera, Ambar Infiniti’s commercial director.

“Today we are pleased to present the 2016 Infiniti QX50 redisigned luxury crossover. This model offers elegant design combined with greater space, better performance and it suits perfectly the needs of a demanding customer,” he said, adding that the models are priced between $42,600 to the lows $50,0000’s.

The launch will be supported by traditional and social media campaigns to reach the sales goal of 100 units during the next 12 months, he said.

The new QX50 is available in three models, Luxury, Premium and Deluxe Touring; the last two are new optional packages included for 2016.
