Boys & Girls Club, College Board LATAM partner to promote academic success

Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico (BGCPR) and College Board Latin America (LATAM) have established a partnership to enhance educational outcomes for Puerto Rican students.

They aim to strengthen BGCPR’s academic program to identify key skills in Spanish, English and mathematics for middle and high school students. The partnership will also assist BGCPR’s “Plan for the Future” program by offering resources to help students explore vocational interests.

“As part of Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico’s strategic vision for 2025, it was essential to bring allies like College Board LATAM on board. Together, we will bridge the learning gap for middle and high school students who attend our 11 service centers after school in the towns of Aguas Buenas, Arecibo, Bayamón, Carolina, Isabela, Loíza, Mayagüez, San Juan, San Lorenzo and Vieques,” said BGCPR President Olga Ramos-Carrasquillo.

“This nonprofit organization arrives at the right moment, and together, we will shape a bright future for the over 1,100 participants we impact annually through our educational programs and experiences,” Ramos-Carrasquillo pointed out.

“With this alliance, the 56-year legacy that Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico has carried in the most underserved communities from Mayagüez to Vieques is strengthened. In these communities, nine out of every 10 participants live below federal poverty levels in socially disadvantaged environments,” she added.

For College Board LATAM, the alliance with BGCPR represents “the true impact of our mission, which is to connect students with success in college and professional work opportunities,” said Pablo F. Martínez-Rivera, vice president of College Board LATAM. “We want each student to take ownership of their future, and to achieve that, we must change the invitation by offering resources and opportunities that allow them to explore the world of possibilities they can aspire to.”

The partnership includes plans for BGCPR students to take College Board LATAM exams, gain insights into the college admissions process, and receive support in understanding their test results.
