Starting next month, passengers arriving to Puerto Rico’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport will have easier access to car rental companies, which will move their operations to the first level of the multi-level parking facility, Agustín Arellano, CEO of Aerostar Airport Holdings, airport administrator, said Tuesday.

This is possible after Alamo Rent-a-Car, National Car Rental and Enterprise Rent-A-Car reached an agreement with Aerostar, he said.

“With these agreements we seek to provide more amenities to passengers. These companies were the pioneers in joining this plan to provide customer service that exceeds their expectations,” Arellano said. “We’re working to provide the passenger with all the services they need before they leave the airport.

Presently, passengers with reservations have to be picked up in an official car rental company shuttle to be transported to their offices, where they finally get the rented vehicle. This new arrangement will speed up this process, as it will group all of the car rental companies in the parking facility’s main level, to which arriving passengers will be able to walk to.

The LMM’s parking facility is currently under remodeling, which includes lighting changes and installation of closed-circuit security cameras to offer greater safety.

Aerostar believes it will be able to reach agreements with other car rental providers to eventually move them all into the parking facility, Arellano said.

It remains unclear whether these agreements will include car rental providers located outside the airport, on Baldorioty de Castro Avenue’s marginal road.
