Scotiabank unveiled Thursday its “Community Voices” social responsibility initiative to promote education programs in Puerto Rico public schools, featuring the San Juan Children’s Choir.

“Community Voices” is part of Scotiabank’s “Bright Future” philanthropic program that runs in countries where it operates around the world. The financial institution promotes social responsibility initiatives, organizes fundraising campaigns, and conducts social, community and employee volunteer activities focusing on four pillars: education, health, welfare and environment. The “Bright Future” program is aimed at children.

“At Scotiabank we’re excited about this initiative in which we present to the world what we’re doing on behalf of children and youth,” said Scotiabank President Peter Bessey. “We have the participation of the San Juan Children’s Choir and the support of the ‘Cultura de Paz’ project offered to students at the school Juan Ramón Jiménez where we promote the importance of communication, respect and mutual support are key to prevent age-typical situations such as bullying, peer discussions, among others.”

“This is an opportunity that will allows us to show our people how we do our part for the children who are the future of this island,” Bessey said.

“Community Voices” explores the stories of Scotiabank’s social and community initiatives while presenting a wealth of musical talent, the culture, creativity and spirit of youth around the world. The initiative encompasses two videos, one that presents the San Juan Children’s Choir and another shows testimonies from several community leaders who have participated in the initiative.
