Heineken, the renowned Dutch beer that has been a global favorite for more than 140 years, recently unveiled a new package that represents the history of the iconic brew. Th “Heineken Limited Edition 4-pack” contains four aluminum 16-ounce bottles, each with its particular history and captures Heineken’s past, present and future.
The first bottle marks the brand’s origins in 1873, the second represents its entrance into the U.S. market in 1933, when it became the first imported beer, which marked the end of the Prohibition era. The third bottle celebrate’s Heineken’s present and the fourth is a blank canvas that will allow people from all over the globe, including Puerto Rico, to design the new bottle that will go on sale around the world starting December 2012. Three international judges will select the winning design.
Local Heineken executives will announce details of the competition during an invitation-only event Friday night. However, information on how to participate is available at www.yourfuturebottle.com.
