DDR Corp., a company that owns several shopping malls throughout Puerto Rico, on Monday invited the public to join its community effort “Say Present on Back-to-School,” which seeks to donate school supplies to Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico.

The nonprofit benefits more than 15,000 girls, boys, and youth aged 6 to 18 at 13 locations throughout the island, offering its participants a safe and creative space for learning, leadership development, and recreation.

Those interested in donating school supply items may deliver them to the customer service area of DDR at the participating malls: Plaza del Sol and Plaza Río Hondo in Bayamón, Plaza del Norte in Hatillo, and Plaza Palma Real in Humacao. Other participating malls are Señorial Plaza, Plaza Escorial, Plaza Fajardo, Plaza Cayey, Plaza Isabela, Plaza del Altántico, Plaza Walmart, Plaza del Oeste, and Plaza Vega Baja, the mall operator said.

“Thanks to the effort, work, and dedication of the Boys & Girls Clubs, many of the participants have completed their professional career and are competing in a global market as a result of the development of their abilities, creativity and educational opportunities this organization offers them,” said Martha Hermilla, Senior Marketing Director of DDR Puerto Rico.

The public is urged to donate the following school supplies: backpack, lunchboxes, pencil cases, notebooks, crayons, #2 pencils, coloring pencils, pens, erasers, lined paper, colored construction paper sharpeners, rulers, packs of white plain paper, kids’ scissors, coloring markers, white non-toxic glue, all-purpose glue, modeling clay, coloring books, white poster boards, clear tape, manila legal and letter envelopes, paintbrushes, tempera paint, staplers, staples, and colored chalk. In addition to these supplies, the public may also donate art supplies such as sketchbooks, canvas, drawing pencils, acrylic paint and watercolors.
