Lexus awards $27K in scholarships to rising artists

Nancy Navales, sales and marketing director for Lexus Puerto Rico

As part of its commitment to enhance and promote the arts in Puerto Rico, Lexus has granted $27,000 in scholarships split equally between three emerging artists, the automaker announced Wednesday.

During a ceremony held at the Puerto Rico Museum of Arts, Nancy Navales, sales and marketing director for Lexus Puerto Rico bestowed the cash awards to Mónica Félix, Frances Gallardo and Jeffrey Concepción, winners of this year’s “Lexus with the Arts” scholarship program.

“The arts strengthen our cultural sensitivity and are therefore a priority for Lexus. It is our responsibility to make way for new talent, new sources of creativity among emerging artists to help them grow while we nurture their creations,” Navales said.

The chosen artists will have up to a year to complete their proposed art pieces, after which they will be able to showcase them for about two months during a gallery event at the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico in Santurce.
