Life Fitness opens 1st store in P.R.

Life Fitness is opening its first store in Puerto Rico.

Illinois-based Life Fitness, a leading commercial fitness equipment manufacturer and distributor, is opening its first Life Fitness store on Roosevelt Avenue in Caparra, from where it will showcase a full-line of Life Fitness cardio and strength equipment for both commercial and home use, company officials announced Tuesday.

“The fitness market in the Caribbean has shown significant potential and presents growing opportunity for Life Fitness and our dealer partners,” said Tim McCarthy, vice president, Americas Business Unit. “Having a business operation and Life Fitness store in Puerto Rico, the center of the Caribbean islands business, will ensure that we can offer the best customer support in the region, and supports the continuation of our strategy in Latin America.”

The 1,200 square-foot store is owned and operated by Fitness for Life, the exclusive Life Fitness dealer in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean islands (excluding the Dominican Republic) for commercial and consumer products. The store will also serve as the commercial operations headquarters for the Caribbean.

Life Fitness has held a presence in Latin America since the late 1980’s with 38 Life Fitness-branded stores currently in Latin America, but this is the first of its kind in U.S. territory to sell Life Fitness equipment exclusively. Plans call for opening more stores islandwide, although there was no further information on that available.

“We are considering opportunities to maximize this market potential in a way that makes sense for our business, but cannot comment on specifics,” Isaac Landaeta, Caribbean regional manager for Fitness for Life Caribbean, told News is my Business.

The store features a design that is inviting and approachable, with products positioned to encourage customer trial, company officials said.

Product delivery and installation is handled by a professionally trained crew and product consultants staff the store to answer and guide customer questions.
