Frozen yogurt retailer Yogen Früz recently opened a new kiosk-type location at the main entrance of the Kmart store in San Patricio Plaza mall in Guaynabo, becoming the first of several planned inside the retailer, company officials said.
Kmart manager, Orlando Flores, said “for us to be the first Kmart store to have a Yogen Früz within our facilities is a benefit for our customers, as we are offering them more choices to purchase all of their products one place. ”
With the recent opening, the chain now has 41 locations islandwide. Since its arrival to Puerto Rico in 2008, Yogen Früz has strived to offer a “high-quality, nutritional and healthy product line.”
“We are more than pleased to open this Yogen Früz store and give local entrepreneurs the opportunity to have their franchise to generate jobs and help revive our island’s economy,” said Katya Molero, president of YFPR Caribbean, the local licensee for the Canadian chain. “Each store creates 10 to 12 direct jobs, which is added to product purchases and other indirect jobs that are necessary for our daily operations.”
The franchise’s expansion plans continue, fueled by a positive public acceptance, she said. New locations will be opening in several municipalities, namely Coto Laurel in Ponce, Mayagüez and Río Grande.
