CPG Real Estate announced Thursday the opening of El Mercado de Paseo Caribe, a unique food and entertainment concept that brings together the best of Puerto Rico’s food, art, music, and culture.

El Mercado de Paseo Caribe is a 19,000 square-foot indoor-outdoor gourmet food hall and market that houses a variety of culinary experiences from award-winning local chefs and food purveyors, in an oceanfront setting with views to the Condado Lagoon. It came with a $10 million investment, company officials said.

El Mercado de Paseo Caribe features 15 different culinary stations showcasing Puerto Rico’s celebrated and up-and-coming chefs and the finest local and artisanal food brands. El Mercado de Paseo Caribe’s design and art mirror the Latin traditions of the Island, and public performances by popular local musicians will add to its festive ambiance.

An expansive oceanfront terrace allows customers to dine al fresco, and El Mercado’s indoor dining space seats up to 325 customers. Valet parking and indoor self-parking is available.

“El Mercado will be a place for people to enjoy the best of what Puerto Rico has to offer – nature’s bounty, delicious food and drink, contemporary fashion, art, music, and culture — all in one incredible oceanfront setting,” said Sam Kirschner, the CPG Real Estate partner responsible for developing Paseo Caribe.

El Mercado provides the neighborhood with a shopping stop for specialty items including artisanal breads, raw meats, fresh fish, cheeses and charcuterie, desserts, and more from fine local purveyors, he said.

“El Mercado de Paseo Caribe will surely be the most adventurous blend of top culinary talent the island has ever seen,” said Jorge Bonnet, general manager of La Hacienda, one of the tenants, along with others including Nonna, Finca, Levain Bakery and Puerto Rico Coffee Roasters.

El Mercado will also feature a rotating art exhibit that will be curated by the leading museums in Puerto Rico, local artists, galleries and collectors. The establishment will open 365 days a year, from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m.
