Sprint offers free minutes to Mexico, parts of LatAm

sprint-logo-1Wireless carrier Sprint announced recently that for a limited time, it will be giving new customers who switch to an eligible plan 500 free minutes a month to mobile phones and landlines in Mexico and nine additional Latin American countries, including the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Spain and Brazil.

The “Sprint Mexico & More” promotion runs through Dec. 5, 2014 and the offer is good through Dec. 31, 2015, the carrier said.

After the 500 minutes each month, calls to Mexico are $.01 per minute and low per minute rates are offered to the nine other countries.

“In the U.S., 36 percent of Hispanics are foreign-born and rely on their mobile phones to stay connected, especially in those special moments when they can’t physically be there,” said Marcelo Claure, Sprint CEO. “As a Latino, I know first-hand the need to communicate with loved ones internationally and how our mobile phones and a great plan can be the bridge that connects us to those we care about.”

“Starting today, Sprint will offer an even more convenient and cost-effective international calling plan with the launch of the Sprint Mexico & More 500 add-on. Our commitment to the Hispanic consumer is to continue to deliver more mobile for your money, offering exceptional value in national and international calling plans to truly meet all communication needs on America’s newest network,” he said.

Customers can combine the Sprint Mexico & More 500 add-on with any eligible base plan, including the Sprint Simply Unlimited and Sprint Family Share Pack plans.
