Oriental Bank received the “Excellence in Quality Banking Award” from the Puerto Rico Products Association last weekend, for supporting local entrepreneurship and for its outstanding contribution to the local economy.

“The recent consolidation of our operations with those of BBVA PR has been a joining of intentions, efforts and services, which represents good news for the local banking industry and the Puerto Rican economy,” said Oriental Bank President José Rafael Fernández, who accepted the distinction.

“It also clearly demonstrates that when Puerto Ricans want to achieve something and join our spirits to fight for it, we can make it a reality,” he said.

This award commends Oriental Bank for its ongoing search for new initiatives and projects to offer better service to its clients and to contribute to their financial growth, so they can enjoy a better quality of life, bank officials said.

“Without a doubt, this year has been very special and significant in the history of this bank, which was established in Humacao in 1964, and today, thanks to many hardworking Puerto Rican men and women, has become the second largest bank on the Island,” Fernández concluded.
