Advertising agency Y&R in San Juan won the first and second place in the “Best TV Spots from Puerto Rico” category during the most recent edition of the OJO de Iberoamérica Festival in Buenos Aires competition, for a couple of commercials titled “Soldado I” and “Soldado II” produced for DIRECTV.

“For us at Y&R and for our client DIRECTV, it’s always rewarding to be internationally recognized for the quality of our creative product,” said Iván Santos, general manager at Y&R San Juan.

“The challenge we had as an agency was to communicate a unique benefit for their pre-paid product in a clever, witty and memorable way,” said Sylvia Soler, the agency’s senior vice president of creative services.

This award is one of several won by the same campaign in other global & local festivals such as Clio and Cuspide, the executives said.

“DIRECTV and its innovative product portfolio, always present challenges to our creative team to come back with unique, memorable and effective campaigns,” said Gerardo Vázquez, creative director at Y&R San Juan.

“Our team always tackles with enthusiasm the creative opportunities offered by our client to develop ideas that will create market impact and above all, generate sales,” he added.
