Banco Popular’s mobile app now integrates Touch ID, available on Apple devices.

Banco Popular announced Tuesday the launch of a new feature in its mobile banking system that allows customers to access their accounts using their fingerprint.

By integrating Apple’s Touch ID technology to its mobile service, Banco Popular customers can access their accounts much faster, in a safer way, and without having to remember multiple passwords. The mobile app offers 128-bit encryption to protect the customer’s information, and Touch ID represents and additional layer of security, said Camille Burckhart, first vice president of technology for Popular.

“New technologies are constantly available that allow us to improve the experience and security of our services. Our commitment is to remain at the forefront of that evolution to offer the best to our clients,” she said. “The most recent example is the integration of Touch ID for Apple devices.”

Popular’s mobile apps can be downloaded free of charge to Android and iPhone devices. The Touch ID feature is available on the iPhone 5s, 6 and 6 Plus models.
