ATH Móvil processes 20M transactions since launch

At present, the electronic service has the backing of more than 50 financial institutions in Puerto Rico that offer the service and more than 700,000 registered users.

The ATH Móvil service run by transaction processing firm EVERTEC has handled 20 million transactions in the less than two years since its launch, company officials announced Thursday.

At present, the electronic service has the backing of more than 50 financial institutions in Puerto Rico that offer the service and more than 700,000 registered users.

“We are extremely pleased and grateful for the great welcome that ATH Móvil has had from consumers. These figures demonstrate strong growth and the need the service has been fulfilling,” said Mike Vizcarrondo, EVERTEC’s executive vice president of payment services.

“The results of ATH Móvil reaffirm that we must remain at the forefront and innovate to develop products that facilitate our daily life,” he said.

In early 2017, EVERTEC plans to launch the ATH Móvil version for businesses, which has been in development for the better part of this year.

“Given the rapid adoption of ATH Móvil, there is a lot of interest in the commercial version,” said Vizcarrondo. “The commercial version will have new business features, while maintaining the speed, security and ease for customers when it comes to paying.”
