The island’s third Olive Garden is underway in Barceloneta.

Restaurants Operators Inc., owners of the Olive Garden franchise in Puerto Rico, announced Wednesday the start of construction of its third restaurant, representing a $3 million investment in the northern town of Barceloneta.

The eatery will have more than 8,000 square-feet of space — enough for 250 guests — and will generate more than 300 direct and indirect jobs during its development, construction and operational phases.

The chain is currently building its second restaurant in the San Patricio sector of Guaynabo, which is slated to open this year.

“The construction of a new restaurant Olive Garden in the northern area of the island responds to the great response and demand the brand has had. We have carefully evaluated the strategic location of our restaurants and we hope it will be convenient for customers in the central and northern part of the island,” said Dionisio Trigo, Jr., president of ROI.

“Our first restaurant achieved its record in customer visits and sales because we have worked hard to provide the best possible experience. With this third restaurant, we reaffirm our commitment to not only to satisfy Puerto Rican families with a different Italian experience, but also continue to promote Puerto Rico’s economic development through the creation of more jobs,” he said.

The restaurant will be located at the Puerto Rico Premium Outlets in Barceloneta, next to the movie theater complex.
