The fourth generation Lexus IS, the brand’s iconic sports model, comes to the Puerto Rico market completely re-conceptualized and redesigned for its 2016 edition, when it debuts two new and more powerful engine options, the automaker said Thursday.

Lexus IS now features the models 200t, 300 AWD and 350, all of which strengthen the model line’s legacy as a specimen of technological perfection, high performance and craftsmanship.

“With the new engines that Lexus engineers have included in the model line, as well as implementing some mechanical and esthetic updates, IS 2016 stands out as a work of art that highlights its beauty and makes your adrenaline pump faster due to its drive quality,” said Maribel Bengoa, marketing manager at Lexus in Puerto Rico.

With the IS 200t Lexus added a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder turbo engine that works in tandem with an 8-speed automatic transmission. This is the same engine found in the Lexus NX 2015 crossover, but has been modified for the IS 200t to deliver 241 horses and 269 pounds of torque.

The IS 300 AWD is powered by a modified 3.5-liter, V6 engine that puts out 255 horses and 236 pounds of torque, tied to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the IS 350 features a 3.5-liter, V6 engine that is included in the current model and works in tandem with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Its output is 306 horses and 277 pounds of torque.

The F Sport version of IS is available for each of the three base models and includes 18-inch tires, adjusted suspension, as well as exterior and interior design updates. The IS 300 AWD and 350 F Sport models also feature a more powerful-sounding engine.

“Lexus IS has always been synonymous with perfection in the areas of automotive engineering, luxury, performance and technology. The IS 2016 model line reaffirms this,” said Bengoa.
