The St. Regis Bahía Beach Resort in Río Grande reached several milestones recently, as it marked its fifth anniversary and by announcing that, for five years in a row, the hotel received the prestigious Five Diamond certification given by AAA.

This way, the posh property remains as the only hotel in Puerto Rico in having such a distinction. The major achievement adds to the long list of successes given to the hotel in the last five years, hotel officials said.

Recognitions under its belt since it’s opening in 2010 include the “Certified Gold Audubon International Signature Sanctuary,” the first prize in the “Nature Conservation,” category awarded by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators, and Trip Advisor’s “Certificate of Excellence Hall of Fame.”

“In the past five years, The St. Regis Bahía Beach Resort has established a prominent position for itself in the luxury hotel market in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean,” said Terry G. Bechtold, general manager of the sprawling beachfront property.

“We’re proud to see the great support we have had and we are excited about what the next years will bring,” Bechtold added.

To celebrate the occasion, the hotel held several special events including a special turndown service during which the hotel’s Executive Pastry Chef Aníbal Rodríguez created desserts that were delivered to guests in their rooms at bedtime.
