Sacred Heart University’s Institute of Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Citizenship of will host the dialogue “Toward a social market economy: A conversation with Jeff Furman,” on Jan. 10 at 10 am, at the School of Business Administration amphitheater.
Furman is the author of the business plan that laid the foundation for the development of the Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Inc. company in 1978. Currently, he sits on the company’s board.
Early on in his career, Furman embraced the concept of social responsibility in the company by the adoption of strict product quality standards, rejection of the use of chemicals and support for the use of raw materials from fair trade sources, among others.
