SBA, AARP Puerto Rico to host mentoring event

SBA AARP logoAs part of Encore Entrepreneur Mentor Month, the Puerto Rico office of the U.S. Small Business Administration and AARP Puerto Rico have joined forces once more to host the event “Encore Entrepreneurship: from Baby Boomer to Business Owner Too!” on Thursday, April 25.

The sequel to a successful Encore Entrepreneurship Mentor Day last October, the event is aimed at matching potential entrepreneurs over the age of 50 with business counselors and mentors.

SBA and AARP entered into a strategic alliance in May 2012 to provide individuals over the age of 50 with real-world actionable information they need to start and grow small businesses. The event on April 25 will include speed mentoring, allowing business counselors mentors and entrepreneurs to share information for five minute sessions.

The event also will help connect encore entrepreneurs with certified business counselors from the Puerto Rico Small Business & Technology Development Center, the Women’s Business Institute and the Puerto Rico SCORE chapter, who can help throughout the life of an entrepreneur’s business.

The mentoring session will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at SBA Puerto Rico’s Hato Rey headquarters on Ponce de León Avenue.
