Salud Social, a technology startup founded in San Juan this year specializing in online medical care scheduling service, recently announced that it has received its initial round of funding from Ausubo Ventures, a Puerto Rico-based angel investment group, to launch its first international marketing campaign in December 2014.

“This round of funding is critical because it will allow Salud Social to market internationally and have a sustained presence in the leading industry tradeshows where Health Industry professionals from all over the world go to learn about new technologies and to manage their businesses. Salud Social’s core software product has already been sold to customers in Puerto Rico said its President Alberto Lugo.

“Our expectation is to grow our client base in Puerto Rico and export our product to other countries in 2015. The platform runs with the model ‘Software-as-a-Service’ and provides an easy way for patients to schedule appointments and for physicians to optimize the patient’s experience. Ausubo Ventures shares our vision and is a key component in the growth of our business.” Lugo said.

Ausubo Ventures is an angel investment group focused on identifying and funding early stage, high-growth local startups to help them achieve their full potential. Ausubo’s team includes intellectual property, technology, legal and financial experts who provide advice to the founders they support.

“Alberto is a serial entrepreneur with a proven track record. We believe we can add value to his startup,” said Ángel L. Pérez, co-founder and partner of the group.

The deal between Salud Social and Ausubo Ventures was closed on Nov. 20 for an undisclosed amount.
