Frozen yogurt retailer Yogen Früz is wrapping up 2014 with the addition of 14 new stores across Puerto Rico representing a total investment of $2.5 million and the creation of 400 jobs, company executives said Monday.

The two newest stores opened in the Plaza Carolina and Montehiedra Town Center shopping centers, joining some 40 franchised shops already in operation since 2011, when the chain made its local debut.

More stores are slated to open in Mayagüez, Yauco and Caguas in coming weeks.

Company executives attributed the chain’s rapid growth on the island to the quality of their products, in addition to their nutritional attributes, which “came to fill a need to eat healthier without sacrificing delicious taste.”

“Yogen Früz expanded its product offerings to include of açaí and pitahaya cups, as well as new seasonal smoothie flavors,” said Alfredo López, head of franchising for Yogen Früz in Puerto Rico.

“We’re currently evaluating other products that will be available in early 2015. We are constantly reinventing ourselves and looking for new ways to satisfy the tastes of our consumers,” he said.
