The LongHorn Steakhouse chain announced Monday the opening of its first and largest restaurant in Puerto Rico, located in Plaza del Caribe in Ponce. This is the sixth LongHorn establishment on the island, and represents an investment of more than $2 million.

The restaurant created 165 direct and 30 indirect jobs in its construction and operational phase.

“By opening in Plaza del Caribe in Ponce, we’re catering to our southern area clients who until now had to go to Mayagüez or Caguas to enjoy our gastronomical offer,” said Dionisio Trigo, president of Restaurant Operators, which operates the chain.

The new Ponce restaurant accommodates 252 people in its 6,580 square-foot dining area. The facility also houses an activity room, which until now had only been available at the San Patricio location in Guaynabo.

Trigos did not reject the possibility of opening more restaurants in other towns in the near future.

Might be the wording, but the headline and the first sentence makes it sound like this is Longhorn’s FIRST restaurant in Puerto Rico. The second sentence tells otherwise.
