Infotech Aerospace Services announces $11M expansion
Gov. García-Padilla participates in Monday’s announcement of an expansion by Infotech Aerospace Services.
The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and Infotech Aerospace Services (IAS) announced Monday an expansion of operations that will foster the growth of the aerospace industry in the island’s western region.
With an estimated investment of $11 million, IAS will relocate its operations to Aguadilla, creating an additional 250 jobs to support its operations in Puerto Rico.
“IAS joins the group of companies and investors that in spite of the government’s fiscal situation have relied on our talent and local potential, strengthening our economy and showing the world that Puerto Rico still stands and will succeed,” said Puerto Rico Gov. Alejandro García-Padilla.
“We’re leaving a solid legacy for next generations, with companies that are not only sustainable but also defined by their vision of future,” he said during a news conference at the site.
The new operation will reside in a facility owned by the Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company. Architectural design for the new facility is currently under development, and IAS expects to move to the new facility by the end of the year.
“IAS is proud of our strong partnership with Puerto Rico and PRIDCO. We’re pleased to announce the additional job growth and are excited to have the opportunity to relocate to a larger facility in Aguadilla to accommodate our growing workforce,” said John Delametter, president of IAS.
“I personally invite applicants with degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering and Embedded Software to see if we can be part of your future,” he said.
IAS provides engineering services to several areas of the aerospace and defense sectors, working with aspects such as jet engine performance systems analysis, software design and test, turbine durability, component design, among others, and using some of the most complex state of the art engineering tools in the world.
“We’re proud of the partnership that IAS has built with Puerto Rico over the years. This is one of our best examples to showcase when we promote Puerto Rico as an aerospace investment destination, and we enter into this expansion plan looking at aerospace as one of the future leading industries in our economy,” said PRIDCO Executive Director Antonio Medina.
IAS is a pioneer company in Puerto Rico, the first of the aerospace segment in the region IAS began operations in 2003 as a pilot project of a technology incubator in the municipality of Mayagüez. More than a decade later, the workforce has grown to more than 700 full time employees.
