Puma to build $10M aircraft fuel facility at LMM airport

Aerostar Holdings and Puma executives discuss the newly signed contract for a new aircraft fuel facility.

Aerostar Airport Holdings, LCC and Puma recently signed an agreement through which the fuel company will build a $10 million storage and distribution facility at the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport to supply airlines operating at the Carolina hub.

“We’re very pleased to reach this agreement with Puma to provide airlines and aircraft with more efficient fuel distribution and through which we’re also increasing the fuel supply, which the airport lacked,” said Aerostar CEO Agustín Arellano.

Puma’s arrival to the airport could represent savings for the airlines, as the addition of a new competitor could spur a drop in prices for aircraft fuel. Puma will be one of three providers, along with BP and Total, when it begins selling its fuel in a month. The new fuel facility should be completed in a year.
