Amgen donates $229K to United Way Puerto Rico

International biotechnology company Amgen recently donated $229,329 to the United Way Puerto Rico, half of which was collected by company employees through fundraising activities conducted over the past year.

The company, whose Juncos campus employs thousands and produces some of the world’s most widely used pharmaceutical products.

Through a variety of events, Amgen employees raised $114,664, which the Amgen Foundation matched dollar-for-dollar. The money will go toward furthering the United Way Puerto Rico’s work through its network of nonprofit foundations catering to underprivileged and special communities islandwide.

Amgen has a long track record in collaborating with grassroots organizations that serve the communities where its employees live and work, in this case, the town of Juncos and the island in general.
