3M of Puerto Rico is getting together with the Alzheimer’s Association and Related Disorders of Puerto Rico this month to raise awareness on behalf of people with the disease, their caregivers and family members, marking the global celebration of “Alzheimer’s Month.”

Inspired by the desire to reduce the stigma of the disease and to fulfill their company’s mission to give something back to the community, the Post-it brand has developed a communication campaign to generate awareness regarding the warning signs people with this disease present.

“With this campaign 3M & Post-it joins the Alzheimer’s Association and Related Disorders of Puerto Rico to raise awareness about this disease that affects many Puerto Rican households. Our product, Post-it is a traditional communication tool that often helps people to remember important stuff,” said Evynette Serrano, 3M brand manager.

“We believe people affected with the disease can also incorporate the product in their daily routines, as well as their family members,” she said. “This campaign is an effort to be supportive to those who can’t remember things so easily, because we all have a right to remember.”

The Alzheimer’s Association is facing a decrease in funding to develop of educational programs for the caregivers of people with the disease. Through this communication campaign, Post-it will be able to contribute and help the cause. For the sale of any Post-it product, the company will make a donation to the nonprofit, to be bestowed during the “La Gran Caminata de la Memoria” on Sept. 22.

Alzheimer’s disease is progressive, and irreversible. It affects the brain and destroys the memory and thinking skills.
