Abarca incluida en la lista de los mejores lugares para trabajar en TI en 2026

Abarca is the only company based in Puerto Rico to be recognized on Computerworld’s 2026 Best Places to Work in IT list.

Abarca has been named one of Computerworld’s 2026 Best Places to Work in IT, ranking No. 14 among small global organizations and remaining the only company based in Puerto Rico included on the list.

The distinction recognizes employers that provide strong benefits, training and engagement opportunities while challenging IT professionals to innovate and grow.

The health care technology and pharmacy benefit manager said the honor underscores the strength of its employer value proposition, which is built on three pillars: Abarcan Care, Abarcan Growth and Abarcan Experience.

These programs outline how the company supports employees across its expanding global footprint.

“At Abarca, technology isn’t just a support function — it’s at the center of how we reimagine healthcare every day,” said Mercibel González, executive vice president and chief people officer.

“Being named one of the Best Places to Work in IT reaffirms that our culture, our values and our commitment to our people — through our Abarcan care, growth and experience programs — are just as innovative as the technology we build,” she said.

From its San Juan headquarters, Abarca brings together engineers, data scientists, cybersecurity specialists, clinicians and product leaders who work on technology that supports pharmacy benefits and broader health care solutions for clients nationwide.

The Abarcan Care pillar includes benefits, flexible work arrangements and wellness initiatives, along with what the company describes as a culture that treats colleagues “like family.”

Abarcan Growth offers opportunities to develop skills in artificial intelligence, cloud-native platforms, data engineering and modern software architectures, as well as mentorship and leadership development programs.

Abarcan Experience features initiatives such as Oasis Connections, where industry leaders discuss innovation and leadership, and Oasis Mixers, informal gatherings designed to strengthen relationships among IT professionals.

Since its founding in 2005, Abarca has emphasized pairing technology with human connections. Its PBM platform, Darwin, underpins clinical programs and client solutions and supports a team of more than 900 employees.

“Recognition from Computerworld is particularly meaningful because it reflects how our own people experience life at Abarca,” González said. “We’re proud to offer an environment where our people can feel cared for, grow their careers and live a unique Abarcan experience — while seeing the impact of their work on millions of lives.”
