If you are an entrepreneur, scientist or professional with an innovative idea for new clean technology products or services with the potential of going commercial, then you should know the Clean Technology Accelerator, known as ACT Global, is accepting proposals to develop marketable projects, company director Javier Lugo-Mender said.

ACT Global will receive proposals from all over the world and will offer selected initiatives the resources needed to move toward commercialization, he said.

“This project seeks to promote the generation of wealth and skilled jobs by providing strategic and technical assistance to entrepreneurs, inventors and innovative businesspeople of all kinds in the development and commercialization of their initiatives,” he added.

The “cleantech” concept refers to a wide range of products, processes and services driven by market demand that have the potential to enhance the responsible use of natural resources and reduce their environmental impact.

“These clean technologies encompass a variety of industrial sectors including renewable energy, energy efficiency, information technology and communications, green buildings, waste management and recycling, advanced materials and nanotechnology, among others,” he said. ACT Global was founded in 2012 as an initiative by the Puerto Rico Energy Center, the Northeastern Technological Initiative and the Turabo University.

Among the criteria to be evaluated are: scientific merit and originality, economic viability and market potential for creating intellectual property, proponent qualifications, socioeconomic impact and associated risks.
