Se lanza el programa «AI in Action» para empoderar a la fuerza laboral de Puerto Rico
With the goal of promoting digital equity and preparing Puerto Rico’s workforce for a changing labor market, HR Disruptor has launched the “Artificial Intelligence in Action” educational program, holding its first session at the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association.
Designed as a fully practical experience, the program targets professionals, entrepreneurs and community members seeking to apply AI tools in real-world work scenarios.
“Artificial Intelligence isn’t an option; it’s a necessity,” said HR Disruptor founder and CEO Julybeth Alicea-Rodríguez. “We want to bring cutting-edge technologies to a broad audience with a program that will provide them with the necessary tools to learn how to automate processes, analyze and generate data and design applications powered by AI.”
Alicea-Rodríguez emphasized the program’s inclusive mission to ensure “no one in Puerto Rico is left behind,” particularly as AI is expected to reshape jobs globally. The initiative integrates business leaders and university professors to bridge practical knowledge with academic depth.
Instructors include professors Marcos Vélez and José Ferrer, as well as businesswomen Mildred Ramírez and Alicea-Rodríguez.
The five-hour sessions are divided into four modules covering the fundamentals and applications of AI. Participants explore tools such as ChatGPT, Gamma, Mapify and Manychat, learning to automate marketing strategies, build training programs and analyze data. One module focuses on ethical considerations, including privacy, bias in algorithms, transparency in results and the importance of human oversight in AI-supported decisions.
“Although it’s a 100% practical workshop, automation isn’t taught without awareness,” Alicea-Rodríguez said. “We promote the ethical and strategic use of AI to increase efficiency without losing sight of the human and social impact this technology can have in the workplace.”
The second session is scheduled for June 19 at ReActiva in Arecibo, and the third for Aug, 21 at Engine-4 in Bayamón, both from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Each session will also feature a surprise guest expert.
“Artificial Intelligence in Action educates, trains and empowers participants so they not only understand what AI is, but also use it usefully, ethically and effectively in their work or business environment,” Alicea-Rodríguez said.
The program is backed by corporate sponsors including T-Mobile, Access All Services, Manpower Group in Puerto Rico, BML, PSS Pathfinders, Laboratorio Clínico Teresita and Top Doerr AI Technologies. It also seeks to stimulate socioeconomic development by optimizing processes, encouraging entrepreneurship and creating new networks for collaboration between participants, industry leaders and educators.
