The Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport has begun offering wireless Internet service at terminals A, C and D, for which operators will be charging a fee depending on the number of hours passengers need it.

The Wi-Fi service will be available through the airport’s “SJU Airport” signal, Agustín Arellano, CEO of airport operator Aerostar Airport Holdings said Thursday.

“This new service will provide passengers with access to fast, secure and reliable Internet. They can access from their laptops, tablets and smartphones. The installation of antennas for this service began in the area of the terminals, waiting rooms and corridor connectors between terminals, for the benefit of passengers waiting for their flight,” Arellano said. “However, we are committed to completing phases two and three promptly to deliver Internet to all airport visitors.”

The first phase of the project to provide Internet access to the airport was the installation of antennas in the terminal areas, after the Transportation Security Administration’s security checkpoints. This service will benefit passengers waiting for their flights.

Meanwhile, the installation of antennas that provide services to passengers at check-in counters at Terminals A and D will be completed next month. The third phase, which will be operational after completing the installation at the service counters, will provide Internet access to passengers who are in the baggage claim area.

Passengers looking to use the new Wi-Fi service will have to pay $1.99 for an hour, $4.99 for three hours and $9.99 for 24 hours, airport officials said.
