Nat’l AGC Annual Convention to be held in P.R. in March

2015ConventionBannermicrosite2Under the slogan, “360 degrees of construction,” the Associated General Contractors of America will hold its 96th annual convention for the first time in Puerto Rico, Mar. 18-20 at the Convention Center in Miramar.

The event will bring together more than 2,000 construction industry professionals, who belong to a group that invests an estimated $100 billion in products and services annually.

The convention will generate a significant economic impact for Puerto Rico with more than 5,000 room nights booked, trade group President Al Landes said Tuesday.

“We will be hosting our peers in the industry, and we want the experience of all participants is extraordinary. We urge everyone to participate,” said Landes.

“Attending the AGC of America’s annual convention is the opportunity that many of us will have to learn about key issues that are affecting our industry, expand our network of connections, hear fascinating speakers, and share tips for success,” Landes noted.

The convention will give participants more than two days to network, develop professionally through workshops, and the chance to meet with solutions providers, the AGC said.

For his part, Humberto Reynolds, president of the Puerto Rico Chapter of the AGC, said “this occasion gives us great opportunities to explore diverse construction-related businesses.”

“This year’s theme is related to the application of various technologies in construction. The seminars for professional development are interrelated with all the advances in our industry from financial, technology development, risk management, human resources — a whole series of opportunities of great importance to our industry,” he said.

The roster of guest speakers includes Ken Adelman, ambassador and former director of gun control for President Ronald Reagan; Chad Hymas, described by The Wall Street Journal as “one of the 10 most inspiring people of the world;” and Haley Barbour, former governor of Mississippi and reportedly one of the best political strategists in the nation.
