Aon Puerto Rico names new president

Aon Puerto Rico announced this week the appointment of Manuel Bermúdez as the new president of its local operations. He succeeds Iván Méndez, who held the post for the past five years and will now chair the company’s board.
During that same five-year period, Bermúdez served as director general of consulting and was responsible for leading the operations and business development consulting for Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. He joined Aon Hewitt (Hewitt Associates) in 2000, when he established offices in Venezuela and the Dominican Republic, with responsibility for markets in Colombia and Central America.
Meanwhile, Méndez had steered the firm since February 2008 and under his leadership the company made two successful acquisitions and integrated the Hewitt team. In his new role, Méndez will continue to contribute his knowledge and experience in the development of new strategies.
Aon’s new president has extensive experience in labor issues and in the development of business strategies, as well as business development and transformation. Bermúdez has worked for multinational companies in different industries “so that his career is broad and diverse and qualifies him for this position,” the company said in a release.
Bermúdez holds a degree in Industrial Relations and has a Masters in Human Resources from Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas, Venezuela. He is the author of several articles and has also offered workshops on human resources issues.
