BetMGM expands sports betting to Mayagüez Resort & Casino
BetMGM Sportsbook at Casino del Mar has opened its first satellite location at the Mayagüez Resort & Casino, extending its sports betting operations to Puerto Rico’s western region.
The expansion builds on the company’s existing presence at La Concha Resort in Condado, where BetMGM operates Puerto Rico’s first sportsbook.
“At BetMGM Casino del Mar Sportsbook, we are committed to offering a safe, innovative and accessible experience that combines the excitement of sports with the cutting-edge technology that distinguishes our brand,” said Sigfrido de Jesús, general manager of Casino del Mar.
“The opening of this satellite location in Mayagüez allows us to bring our offering to a different region of Puerto Rico, responding to the interest of fans who enjoy sports and wish to participate responsibly in betting on their favorite teams,” he said.
Players in the western region can download the BetMGM Sportsbook app, available for iOS, Android and the web, and visit the Mayagüez Resort & Casino to validate their registration before using the platform.
Rolando Padua, president of Paulson Puerto Rico, said the new location represents continued investment in the island’s economy.
“Our commitment is to continue investing in Puerto Rico’s development, generating quality jobs, fostering alliances with the tourism sector and bringing world-class entertainment experiences to more communities,” he said.
Padua added that BetMGM and Paulson Puerto Rico have paid about $3 million in taxes and created nearly 50 jobs since opening their original sportsbook lounge at La Concha.
Scott Woodgate, vice president of BetMGM, said the expansion supports the company’s focus on market growth and responsible gaming education.
