WLG Innovations, a technology start-up firm based in Caguas, recently launched an mobile application to help users to choose and acquire gifts. The app is available in the Apple store for free for iPhone users who have a Facebook account. said company founder, Pedro José Aponte-Gil de Lamadrid,

“The App called WLG Gift Shopper is designed to bring order to the social process of choosing and acquiring gifts. Instead of having to make multiple last minute phone calls to learn about someone’s clothing or shoe size, the information is made available in the app,” said Aponte-Gil de Lamadrid.

“Users can also take photos of items they wish someone would get for them as gifts, and include them in a wish list, along with information about price and where to find the gift,” he said. “The information can be shared with friends in the social network to facilitate the process of searching for, choosing and buying a gift that will be well received.”

The app strives to take the guesswork out of knowing what someone wants or needs as a present, without eliminating the surprise element, since users can have multiple items on their wish lists, not knowing which ones are acquired as gifts.

“Our goal is that every present be appropriate and well received, reducing returns, and maintaining the personal touch that a last minute gift card cannot provide,” he said.

Next month, the developer will launch an updated version with options to allow users to use the app without Facebook, either with Twitter, Google+ or any email account. The Android version of the App is expected to be available in March.

“There are many additional features in the development cycle that will continue to add value to the users with a pragmatic, social and useful experience,” Aponte-Gil de Lamadrid said. “For Mother’s Day, our users will be able to manage a gift list, with a budget, knowing which presents have been bought, and which ones need to be bought.”
