Claro Puerto Rico adds 9 new towns to 4G LTE network

Wireless carrier Claro announced Monday the inclusion of nine additional Puerto Rican towns into its high-speed 4G LTE network, through which clients can reach transmission speeds of up to 50 megabits per second through their mobile devices.
Claro began deploying its 4G LTE network in November 2012, when it flipped the switch on its new digital platform in San Juan, Ponce and Mayagüez, as this media outlet informado.
“We’re pleased to announce the expansion of our 4G LTE network through wich more users will be able to surf the Internet via their mobile devices as impressive speeds of up to 50 megas,” said Claro President Enrique Ortiz de Montellano. “With a significant and sustained investment since 2007 that reaches $1.4 billion, we exceed any investment by any provider fulfilling our commitment to Puerto Rico to offer world-class infrastructure.”
As of this week, the towns of Aguada, Añasco, Arecibo, Barceloneta, Fajardo, Humacao, Juncos, Manatí and San Lorenzo join the areas around San Juan, Ponce, Mayagüez and Caguas, which already have access to the faster service.
For the better part of the last year, all of Puerto Rico’s wireless carriers have been launching 4G LTE technology. Last week, AT&T and T-Mobile announced expansion of their own.
