Silva, head of community relations; Elena Montijo, vice president; and Tommy González, president and founder, from Club Pirú, a nonprofit focused on developing Puerto Rico’s media and entertainment sectors.

Club Pirú, a newly established 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation, has launched in Puerto Rico with the goal of supporting the island’s film, television, animation, video game and music industries by providing creators with resources, training and professional development.

The organization aims to address one of the region’s longstanding challenges: limited access to financing, distribution opportunities and production infrastructure.

Co-founded by media producers Tommy González and Elena Montijo, Club Pirú seeks to help expand Puerto Rico’s creative economy.

“Our mission is to create opportunities, projects and talent for the future of the media industry in Puerto Rico,” González said. “Independent creators often have the ideas but lack access to financing or distribution. Club Pirú exists to bridge that gap.”

Montijo said, “Puerto Rico is brimming with talent, but talent alone isn’t enough. Our goal is to provide the necessary structure and support so that creators can focus on what they do best: telling stories that resonate globally.”

The nonprofit plans to offer programming, mentorship and connections to link Puerto Rican and Latin American creators with international markets.

“We’re building not only a foundation for artists, but also a professional infrastructure. Operations, training and access to networks are essential if we want to grow a truly sustainable creative economy on the island,” said Audrey De León, director of operations, adding that the organization’s objectives go beyond providing grants or single initiatives.

Club Pirú also announced its board of directors, composed of professionals with experience in production, management of cultural projects and creative development, as well as an advisory board of international figures in film, animation, music, marketing and media.

According to the organization, the group’s combined expertise is intended to help position Puerto Rico as a growing hub for creative industries.
