Columbus Business Solutions grants scholarship

Information technology firm Columbus Business Solutions has teamed up with the Polytechnic University to provide scholarships to engineering or computer science students, to help them cover their tuition fees and offer internships to help them get real work experience.
Computer engineering student Johnny Mejías is the first to be chosen to participate in this internship, and will have the opportunity to work in Columbus Business Solutions for a semester. He will take part in various projects and departments that will give him the chance to develop his skills and apply what he has learned in college.
“In Columbus believe in Puerto Rico’s young talent and we have the vision of cultivating it by offering the student their first opportunity in a strong and growing company,” said Felix Lugo, country manager for Columbus Business Solutions in Puerto Rico.
“Together with the Polytechnic University, through this scholarship program we have made progress toward this vision of development, providing an opportunity for the young to experience the professional world with real challenges and needs, which will provide a unique experience,” he said.
Meanwhile, Polytechnic University President Ernesto Vázquez-Barquet said, “the support of the private sector is essential in the development of academia. Programs like this help our students to put into practice everything learned in college and experience the situations that each of them will face once they join the workforce.”
