The Combate Beach Resort in Cabo Rojo has been awarded a certificate of excellence from TripAdvisor under the “bed & breakfast & inns” category, hotel officials announced Wednesday.

This award recognizes excellence in hospitality, and is only bestowed to companies that consistently receive excellent evaluations from its customers in TripAdvisor’s website. This award is given to only 10 percent of firms that consistently garner best performance reviews on TripAdvisor.

To qualify for a Certificate of Excellence, the company must maintain an average rating of four or more, on a scale of up to five, as assessed by travelers on TripAdvisor, and should have been included in TripAdvisor at least 12 months. Additional criteria include volume of reviews received about the company in the last 12 months.

“Combate Beach is delighted to receive TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence,” said Xavier Ramírez, general manager of the property. “We strive to offer our guests a memorable experience, and this accolade is evidence that our work results in positive evaluations on TripAdvisor.”

In the last 12 months, the Combate Beach Resort has seen an occupancy increase of 120 percent. Some $3 million have been invested in the property in as many years to expand and modernize the facility.
