The Sales and Marketing Executives of Puerto Rico will focus this year’s conference on the development of creative business strategies, which are key to helping companies face and survive the challenges associated with the island’s current economic conditions.

The event titled “Think Out of the Box” will take place April 3-4 at the Puerto Rico Convention Center in Miramar, where international and local speakers will gather to make presentations on selling and marketing to promote the development of innovative strategies.

“It is important to stimulate the market’s activity with new sales and marketing strategies. This time, the conference looks forward to encouraging creative thoughts, addressed to breaking old patterns and inciting new business trends,” said SME President Nélida Rivera-Claudio. “Puerto Rico needs for us to think out of the traditional box to drive our economy.”

This year, five international speakers will participate in the conference, namely, Chad Dick from EatBigFish.com; Sharon Drew Morgen, author of “Selling With Integrity;” Larry Winget, star of his own PBS special “Success is your own fault’;” Silvina Moschini, co-host of CNN en Español’s “Directo a la Tecnología;” and Adriana Macías, author of “Abraza el éxito.”

Meanwhile, the lineup of local speakers includes Graciela Eleta, president of Eleta Consulting; Dana Montenegro, president of Seriously Creative; Hebé Lugo, president of Strategic Minds; and Javier Carro, president of Publicis 360; among others.

“As part of our educational offer, we will have two special leadership sessions lead by Puerto Rico Toastmaster’s Club, as well as a student mentorship program where membered students are given the opportunity to receive scholarships and apprenticeships through the sponsor companies of the SME,” said SME Executive Director, María Elena Lampaya.

“College students are the future professionals and it is important that they unite in chapters to learn about the industry and develop their skills,” she said.

Aside from the full agenda of educational speeches, the event will comprise other elements, such as the SME Networking, Learning, and Expo Center, where more than 30 new products and services will be exhibited, the granting of the Guanín Award to Tenor Rafael Dávila-Rolón for representing Puerto Rico in 2013, and two social events.
