Telecommunications provider Claro Puerto Rico announced Monday the expansion of its 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) network to nine more municipalities in Puerto Rico, totaling 18 new additions in just seven weeks.

This time, clients in the towns of Cayey, Ceiba, Hatillo, Guayama, Rincón, Río Grande, Patillas, Vega Alta, and Vega Baja will join the list of that already benefit from the service.

“We’re going strong with the commitment of quickly expanding our powerful 4G LTE network to every corner in the island. We added nine municipalities only a few weeks ago, and today we’re pleased to announce we’ve added nine more where our clients will be able to browse the web at impressive speeds right from their mobile devices,” said company President Enrique Ortiz de Montellano.

The recent expansion is part of Claro’s investment plan, to which they gave way to in October 2012, of more than $1.3 million aimed at supporting their LTE mobile devices with speeds of up to 50 megabits per second.

The network lets users browse the Internet at high speeds, bettering the performance of applications and services that make use of a mobile broadband.

“With every expansion we confirm our goal of offering Puerto Rico a telecommunications infrastructure supported with advanced technologies that are at the same level of others that exist around the world,” Ortiz de Montellano added.

With LTE, users will benefit from a network capable of supporting high-resolution videos, cloud uploads and downloads, multiplayer gaming, and other features with a higher speed that will enable a better user experience.
