Cuba Travel Services to launch LMM-Havana charter flights

Air travel between the United States and Cuba is about to get a bit more crowded with the announcement Thursday by Cuba Travel Services Inc. that it has received landing permission by the government of the island-nation to begin flights from San Juan, Ft. Lauderdale and Houston.

While no specific date was announced, Michael Zuccato, general manager of CTS, said non-stop service is expected to “commence soon” on charter Airbus, Boeing 737, MD-80 as well as ATR-72 aircraft. Service will be offered between Cuba and Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, Fort Lauderdale International Airport, and Houston Intercontinental Airport.

“Cuba Travel Services’ office in San Juan has been serving Puerto Rico for more than eight years and is the only authorized charter and travel service company that has offices in Puerto Rico and currently operates charters to Cuba. We look forward to servicing licensed passengers in the region with a low-cost travel solution to both Santiago and Havana, Cuba,” said Zuccato.

CTS has been servicing passengers, from both the West and East coast of the US for more than 11 years. Under arrangements with US registered air carriers, CTS has been providing non-stop charter flights from Los Angeles and Miami since 2000 and is recognized as a leading provider of charter and travel services to Cuba.

“Cuba Travel Services plans to extend high quality, low cost travel services between recently authorized Fort Lauderdale and Houston as well,” he said.

Cuba Travel Services recognizes the there is large Cuban-American population in Puerto Rico and anticipates tremendous interest in the direct flights, company officials said.

Last month, Miami-based C&T Charters plans to offer flights between Puerto Rico and Cuba starting in October, as News is my Business informado in June.
