Casual dining restaurant chain Denny’s is marking its 25th anniversary in Puerto Rico and apparently has no plans to scale back its presence, announcing the construction of a new $2 million location in Aguadilla that is slated to open in February 2015.

During a news conference Thursday, executives from Marpor Corporation, parent company of the chain in Puerto Rico, said the future 7,000 square-foot Aguadilla eatery will generate 250 jobs, and will be located at the Hotel Las Cascadas in that western town.

“We’re veryproud to celebratethe 25th anniversary ofDenny’sinPuerto Rico, whileannouncingthe construction ofa new restaurant inAguadilla,” said RicardoGonzález, vice president of MarporCorporation.

“This expansion will provide more accessibility to western area residents, so they may enjoy good service, a quality menu and the family atmosphere that characterizes us. Hotel guests will have the convenience of having a gastronomic alternative within the property,” he said, acknowledging Aguadilla Mayor Carlos Méndez, who was given credit for offering the company an opportunity to open the 13th Denny’s location in Puerto Rico.

Once open, that restaurant will join Denny’s restaurants offering service in Bayamón, Caguas, Río Piedras, Hato Rey, Ponce, San Patricio, Los Paseos, Arecibo, Mayagüez, Condado, Isla Verde and Parque Escorial in Carolina.

“Denny’s in Puerto Rico has been a model for the nationwide chain, its growth over the past 25 years has been consistent and which has survived difficult economic times, and the announcement of the construction of the new restaurant in Aguadilla an example of that,” said John Miller, CEO of Denny’s, who was in Puerto Rico this week for the milestone.

To mark its silver anniversary, Denny’s will conduct a fundraising campaign to benefit the Children’s Hospital, donating .25 cents for every “Grand Slam” breakfast sold at its restaurants from June 2 to July 31.
